Fig. 1 - 05.08.2018 - A10 roadway borders the N-W Italian coast. Bridge Morandi allowed avoiding Val Polcevera and Genoa centre.
Fig. 2 - 15.08.2018 - Built in 1967, it collapsed during a powerful storm on 14.08.2018, killing 43 people. It disrupted road traffic for 2 years.
Fig. 3 - 13.11.2019 - The rest of the old bridge was destroyed in August 2019 to allow a new project to reconnect Genoa to France by road.
Fig. 4 - 10.07.2020 - Genoa-Saint George Bridge near-completed. It was made more durable and simpler to maintain.
As a result of a deal, the responsible company Autostrade becomes public and has to pay 3.4 billion euros in compensation of the disaster.
Fig. 5 - 30.07.2020 - Completed and tested by 56 trucks, the replacement bridge opened on 05.08.2020, less than two years after the failure.
