Fig. 1 - S2 (22.11.2019) - 4,3,2 natural colour, relief x1.5 - Whakaari (or White Island) is a 2km island 48km off the coast of New Zealand.
Most active cone volcano in NZ, it lies 321 m above water, 1600 m above the sea floor. It erupted continually from 1975 until 2000, in 2012 & 2016.
Fig. 2 - S1 (03, 15 & 27.11.2019) - mean(vv,vh,vv) colour composite - On 09.12.2019, it erupted while being visited by 47 people.
Fig. 3 - 09.12.2019 - vv,vh,vv, orthorectified - Local helicopter operators collected 12 survivors soon after the eruption.
Fig. 4 - 09.12.2019 - vv,vh,vv, ellipsoid - The current toll is 16 fatalities and 31 injured, which of 23 still in critical state.
