Fig. 1 - S2 (02 & 07.03.2023) - Donki Dereisa / Donkey Dereis is a village in As Salam locality, South Darfur state, Sudan.
The Sahel region is susceptible to seasonal fires during the dry season. On 3 March, a fire in broke out in one house, but strong winds caused it to spread quickly to the rest of the village.

It displaced an estimated 11,000 people and killed five children. It destroyed between 3000–5000 houses (around 75% of the village), burnt down more than 140 shops and restaurants, and affected hundreds of livestock.
