Banks, schools, universities, public offices and some private companies will remain closed for two days while temperatures topped 50°C in the south of the country.

In Iran, the very poor state of the worn-out and failing infrastructure has led to frequent stoppages at power plants, especially this year. Power and water cuts have been reported since June in Tehran and other cities in the country, sometimes for 10 hours at a time.
